Week 3 Results, Ross Low team in Semis and Indoor Grand Match Results

Colin Naismith's team had a 9-5 victory over George Hay's team to take over top spot in the Fraser Cup. There also were victories for Ken Ross, Jim Dunlop and Peter Kennedy.

The current league table can be found here.

Congratulations are due to our Ross Low team of Ken Ross, Colin Naismith, Ernest Mutter and Danny Ross who qualified for the Ross Low Semi Finals.  These are being played at 12.00 noon this Thursday, with the final thereafter. (DV)

Last Saturday, two Gangrels teams represented the club in the Indoor Grand Match.  This is a game between the North of Scotland and the South. This was last played for in 2010 and the result this time was a resounding victory for the South by 2154 shots to 1928.

The Indoor Grand Match, of course, is only played because, for various reasons, including on occasion a lack of ice, the outdoor Grand Match hasn't taken to the ice since 1979 at the Lake of Menteith.

Gangrels 1 are pictured above with their opponents, The Loch Ness Curling Club. A report on the game is to be found on the Loch Ness website which is here.  Those of you with a nervous disposition should look away now, but if you look closely you'll see that the boys from the North had a great time, enjoyed their game and had some nice things to say about our team.  Take the rest with a pinch of salt - the Loch Ness Website is famous.

Gangrels 2 had to make their way to Forfar and had an excellent day.  We were up against Cawdor House CC, all the way from that well known part of the North called Bishopbriggs. A very friendly game ensued in which we played well and came out winners by 10 shots to 3.

While at Forfar we saw the trophy for the Outdoor Match.  This has been held by Edzell since 1979, when they were the highest shots up.

An impressive trophy.
