Fraser Cup - Halfway Point

Five games played and five games to go.  Setting the pace is Euan Lawrence's team who had a convincing 13 - 2 victory over their closest rival Jimmy Begg. Five games played and five games won.  Will they continue their good form in the second half?  Time will tell!

Ronnie Wilson skipped Robert Charters' team to a 9-5 victory over Bob Cherry, who were skipped by Francis McCrossin.

At the lower end of the table, David Hope's team recorded their first victory, beating Richard Morrison by 9 shots to 1. Starring for David's team was Steel McFadzean, resplendent after a successful day at the races. New uniform for the club?

Jimmy and Euan are still unbeaten - but Euan now a point ahead.

Top of the league Euan Lawrence, with his team of Peter Reynolds, Robert Boyd and Gillian Watson, secured another impressive victory over David Hope's team tonight.  David was certainly missed but Euan's team didn't miss much in a 16 shots to 2 victory.

Second place Jimmy Begg had to work harder, coming back from 5 shots down to Bob Cherry after 3 ends to secure a 6-6 draw.

The third game was close for a while. Robert Charters was 4-2 up after 4 ends, but he pulled ahead to win comfortably by 9 shots to 2 at the finish.

Jimmy Begg and his team of Anne Hay, Jim Dunlop and David Gray had a 14-3 victory over Robert Charters team tonight to take top position in the league.  Mind you, he's only one end better than Euan Lawrence's team.  They started well and were 8-1 up after three ends, but settled for a 9-5 victory over Richard Morrison at the close.

The third game was very close. Tied at 4 shots all after 6 ends, Bob Cherry took a two at the last to win an enjoyable game.

Can you spot the Gangrel?

Thanks to Gillian Watson who has sent us an old photo of The Gangrels.  As you probably know, Gillian is the daughter of John Watson, one of the original "Boys Rink" who founded our club in February 1940.

The date is not known, but we can see a few weel kent faces, just a wee bit younger than they look today.

How many can you spot and can anyone guess the year? Click on the photo to expand.
