Ronnie Wilson's Team still Leading

Week 4 of this year's Fraser Cup saw Ronnie Wilson's team continue their unbeaten run. It was fairly close, though. Jim Dunlop was skipping for Peter Reynolds and was level at 5 shots all starting the last end.  Ronnie had the last stone and it was enough to score the winning shot.

Francis McCrossin's rink are chasing hard. They were 7 shots up on Ronnie Peat's team before losing a two. Scores of 3 and 2 at the next two ends resulted in a comfortable win by 12 shots to 2.  Ronnie was unavailable for comment when we tried to speak to him later, but acknowledged they were well beaten.

The third game saw Ken Ross score in 5 ends in a well crafted 6-2 victory

Week 3 - Fraser Cup

Ronnie Wilson's team had a great start to their game, winning the first 4 ends to lead by 6 shots.  David Gray then staged a comeback by winning three of the next four ends, finishing down by 7 shots to 4.  However, Ronnie is now the only unbeaten team and leads the league on 5 points.

One point behind is Francis McCrossin. Francis and his team also had a great start and they were 8 shots to the good before Ken Ross staged his fightback. Ken scored 8 shots in the second half of the game, but lost a 5 in end 7, leaving Francis the winner 13-8.

Ronnie Peat and Peter Reynolds had a close and well fought game with Peter scoring a 4 at the sixth end to finish up leading 7-6 at the conclusion.

Fraser Cup - It's Close at the Top

We now have three teams tied at the top after two games.  Ronnie Wilson, David Gray and Ken Ross all have three points out of four and are only separated by ends.

Ronnie Wilson had a comfortable victory over Jimmy Niblock, who was skipping for Francis McCrossin's team. David Gray finished tied at 5-5 with Peter Reynolds and Ken Ross beat Ronnie Peat by 10 shots to 4.

The league Table, which is here, shows David Gray's team now on top - because of a slightly better ends against record.

Jim Lyburn opens the New Season

Honorary President Jim Lyburn started the new season with an almost perfect draw.

Earlier, President Peter Reynolds had welcomed everyone back on the ice again and the assembled company were then "raring to go".

The ice, which had been very keen last week, was unfortunately a bit slow, but it did not detract from  some hard fought games.

Setting the early pace is the rink skipped by Francis McCrossin who scored two fives in their 12-5 win over Peter Reynolds team.

David Gray was also in good form and his team played solidly in winning by 6 shots to 3 over Ronnie Peat.

Ronnie Wilson and Ken Ross shared the points at 7 all and we think they had 4 ends each. It's only natural that seconds will take a littkle while to remember how to count!

The league table can be found by clicking here or on the Results Tab.

Afterwards 20 of us had an excellent meal from new chef Lorrie Headley.

The fish platter went down a treat.
