The High Road was a closely fought contest between Robert Boyd's rink of Peter Kennedy, Ian Ruthven and Austin Thomson and Bob Cherry's rink of Allan Hastie Richard Morrison and Colin Naismith. In the last end Robert was trailing 6 - 4 but lying one and having last stone to play. Unfortunately the opposition had guarded the whole front of the house and there was no way in. Robert tried a wick from an outside stone just touching the circle. Unfortunately he did not have enough weight and although he got the right angle ended up promoting the opposition stone to be shot rather than taking it out with him second and third stones.
In the low road Ronnie Wilson's rink of Charlie Jack, Jim Dunlop and Peter Reynolds (sub for Bob Grassom) who had been having a recent run of success were beaten by the rink of Ernest Mutter, Steell McFadzean, Roy Penny and Gerry Watson.
