New RCCC Rule Book

The RCCC have last week issued a new Rule Book.  You can view or download a copy by clicking here, or by following the link on our links page to Rules of the Game.

We all know, obviously, most of the rules most of the time, but if you would like a wee refresher of the main changes in the latest amendments, you can find them here. 

New Season

While still hoping for an Indian Summer, or any kind of summer to be honest, it won't be long before the ice rink is open and we are curling again.

The good news is that your committee have worked exceedingly hard and have managed to bring the club back up to 8 teams and a small band of reserves.

Our first league games and the opening night meal will be on October 12th, but we have arranged a Training Evening on Monday October 5th, at which all will be welcome.

We are delighted also to welcome the following as new members and look forward to our games with them.

Day League Knock Out Double Success

In the first year of the Day League Knock Out Competitions, it is very pleasing to report that both our teams won their respective finals.

In the A League, Ronnie Peat with Ernest Mutter (subbing for Jimmy Begg), Jim Dunlop and Ken Ross beat Tarbolton by 7 shots to 5 in a very tight game.

In the D League, Alan Brown, Peter Galloway, Richard Morrison and Jim Henry had a comprehensive victory over Troon Portland 3 by 8 shots to 2.

These were great performances on the day of our AGM.

Frame Salver and Annual General Meeting

Results from last Night's Frame Salver were as follows:

We then had an excellent meal from Passion Caterers before the "business" started.

The minutes of the AGM will be published in due course. In summary, the main points discussed were the offering of Free Membership for one year to new members.  The agreement that Lady Members will be welcomed. Fixture adjustments to the Pairs Competition, a change to the make up of the match with Beresford Ladies and a hope to utilise more Monday Night games.
A major effort will be made to speed up play!

Both Gangrels Teams qualify for Day League Knock Outs

Yesterday, the Gangrels team from Division D played a great semi final to beat Kirkoswald and qualify for the Final on Monday at 12.00, against Troon Portland.
Congratulations to Alan Brown and his team of Richard Morrison, Peter Galloway and Jim Henry.

Our other team of Ronnie Peat with Robert Boyd, Jim Dunlop and Ken Ross also qualified for their knock out final.  They will play in the A league final against Tarbolton, having beaten Fairywell earlier this week.

Peter Kennedy and his rink of Ronnie Wilson, Ernest Mutter and Bob Cherry had a good victory by 8 shots to 3 over Ronnie Peat's team of Allan Hastie, Alan Brown and Bob Grassom.

In the Low Road Final, Jim Dunlop with David Gray, Steell McFadzean and Harry Peters won against Charlie Jack, Ken Ross, George Hodge and Francis McCrossin. The score was 11-3.
